Still dreaming from my desk, still enjoying drinks after work, still having ideas of what would make the perfect bar that is a bookstore that is a thrift/vintage store…
Updates:
1. finally, finally, finished up the ServSafe free online course I took from Santa Ana College I’m ServSafe certified for the next 3 years-yay!
I just recently learned about the somewhat controversial role that ServSafe and other companies play in the food service industry. I don’t know much about it but I am glad there is at least one way to 100% free earn a needed certification, thanks Santa Ana College! However, of course this was “100%” free to me in that I already have access to reliable internet, a home computer and uhm laptop too, and the time to review the course material. Here is an interesting article about ServSafe from WBEZ Chicago.
I haven’t applied for any jobs that ask for a ServSafe cert, I’m hoping to perhaps have more of an open schedule later this year or next year, and maybe try to land a job at one of my favorite brew pubs? These are just DREAMS!
I did enjoy learning about food safety and I appreciate all the hard work that goes into keeping every diner at every eating establishment safe. (I have spotted a few possible violations at some of my fav places, but, uhm, I try to ignore them :/ )
2. Finally visited Hawaii!
Hawaii isn’t a “finally.” It is an extreme privilege to get to fly, to get to stay the night on a beautiful island, to get to stay multiple nights! It was an amazing trip! Thankful to my boyfriend, parents, and sister & brother in law for making this trip possible. I am thankful that I at least once in this lifetime got to visit a Hawaiian island. Mahalo!
So much great food and drinks all over Oahu.
Aloha Table
Shanghai Bar located in the most epic food hall Stix Asia
Honolulu Beerworks awesome brewery that reminded me of home
Hank’s Haute Dogs - a must try in Honolulu!
3. Finally reading more!
According to Goodreads I am 2 books ahead of schedule to accomplish my 75 books/year goal. Yes!
As you can see, a lot of graphic novels, one that might not be a “book” but was in book form so I counted it :) #OfficeLife . Hard to pick a favorite so far, Hide was very thrilling and scary at times. Devotion was really great non fiction and I really loved the movie and was bummed it was NOT represented at the Oscars, boooo!
So what have you been up to? Anyone going to Coachella? Anyone opening up a bookstore or bar or find some really neat thrift lately?
I’ve never tried oysters, but this painting is hopefully the vibe we all get to experience at some point this spring.
Wishing us all something great to read, some great find at a thrift store, some delicious drinks, and someone to share all this fun with.
Cheers!
