I know this may not be the time to dream….as the doomsday clock ticks faster and faster it seems. Or maybe it is the perfect time to dream? The only things I can think to do: take a moment to think of those in peril, send money if we can, and raise a glass to freedom for the Ukrainian people.
Dream. Plan. Do.
Someday.
If somehow, magically, I was very close to opening my own bookstore, that is a bar, that is a thriftstore (that is very focused on vintage), how would I design the space? What paint colors would I choose? What type of flooring? How would the tables be positioned? Would there be tables or bar seating only?
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
See what I mean?
Here are the words/ideas I’d like to focus on when someday I get to start procuring items for the ReadDrinkDream storefront.
I know many of these options will be limited or eliminated by the actual space I would be working with and whether or not I own or will be leasing that space. When I recall places and spaces that I adore: old and new bars I’ve visited, delightful vintage and gift shops, and of course all of the lovely bookstores from around the world we see on Instagram—-it is so hard to choose one desgin aesthetic.
vintage vibes only, industrial chic, boho, yard-sale-whimsy!?, minimalist, color pop!
I recently read a Vogue magazine article about design trends for 2022 and I love so many of them!
Have you incorporated any of these desing trends in your store/shop/bar, personal fashion, or home decor?
My favorite quote from the article:
So, of course, I would most definitely try to source all of my fixtures, equipment, decor, anything and everything I could as vintage and secondhand/thrift.
I’ve also been saving “dream wishlist” items on Etsy
Happy drinking, happy thrifting, happy reading! Cheers!
